chandra thomas works as an actor, writer, director, dancer, singer, and teaching artist. She is a busy and dynamic talent originally from New York.

Recently, chandra just completed performances of (RUS)H at 3LD Art and Technology Center as well as workshop productions of Aliens with Extraordinary Skills at Women's Project, Cassandra Medley's Daughter at Ensemble Studio Theater/Diverse City Theater, Taylor Mac's Lily's Revenge, and 2Gether at West End Theatre.

Other recent performances include Suzan-Lori Parks's 365 Days/365 Plays at The Public Theater and Amelia in the world premiere of False Creeds at the 2007 Tony-Award winning Alliance Theater in Atlanta. Previously, she performed Anya in Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard with Wendell Pierce and Earle Hyman at the Classical Theatre of Harlem (AUDELCO Award nomination); Tituba in Arthur Miller's The Crucible at the Tony Award-winning Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis; Yolanda in the hit production Crowns at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.

Other noteworthy performances include Wordsworth at the Cherry Lane Theatre, the roles of Anitra and Solveig in the acclaimed production of Andrei Serban's PEER GYNT as well as new plays at P.S. 122, HERE Arts Center, the Flea Theatre, Stamford Center for the Arts, the Foundry Theatre, Chashama Theatre, and the Women's Project Theatre.

chandra will soon be seen in the independent films "Bedlam" and "The News Sensation". chandra is also featured in the popular crime drama primetime series "Law and Order: Criminal Intent " as well as the improv-comedy film, Filmic Achievement, and the urban film, Kickin' It High.

As part of her continued belief in using the performing arts to empower young people, chandra co-founded and is the director of programming for viBe Theater Experience. viBe is a non-profit, performing-arts education organization that provides creative and collaborative space for young, urban women to share their stories and use their voices to transform themselves and their communities.

chandra completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Acting at Columbia University- School of the Arts.
